Hiya folks

First of all thanks for visiting and please come back as I shall be updating
regularly.
2003 hasn’t been too bad for me,
I have finished 11th in the MAXXIS British championship. At the
start of the year my aim was to reach the top 10, so I’m
only 1 position out and I feel my riding has improved a great
deal over the year. Next year will be really difficult because
a lot of the foreign riders are wanting to sign up for the series
but I hope to finish in the top 6, and hope to start getting
on the podium.
Ken Winstanley has put on a brilliant series
this year with an array of different tracks, I had some good and
some bad rounds but ended up finishing 9th overall which I was
pleased with. My best result being at Bridgenorth, where I finished
5th. Everything just seemed to click into place that weekend, my
starts were good and I felt real strong, it was great riding where
I feel I belong, nearer the front of the pack!!!
A few weeks ago I competed in the Weston-Super-Mare
Beach Race for the first time, what an experience that was. I think
I smiled from start to finish; it has to be my most enjoyable meeting
ever.
I crashed on the start and came round 88th on the first lap, by mid-race I
had pulled into the top 20 and ended up finishing 7th overall and was first
125 home. I only stopped for 3, 30 second blocks in 3 hours. Many thanks to
my pit crew, dad, Archie, Paul and hot-tub. I also must thank the guys on the
Kawasaki stand, for their support throughout the race, I could hear their whistles
on the other side of the course.
I also hoped to compete in some of the super-x rounds over the winter, but
couldn’t due to the 2-day event at the odyssey arena in Belfast clashing
with a family christening and I felt I had to be there.
The bike has been awesome this year and my confidence
grows each time I throw my leg over it, so a huge thank you to
everyone who has assisted me in any way this season, firstly to
Steve Guttridge of Kawasaki UK,(team green co-ordinator) and the
rest of the Kawasaki crew who have believed in me now for 3 years.
And secondly, everyone at M.J Church, I have found it an honour
to be on the bottom run of the team ladder, learning something
new every time I am in the teams company, from Archie my mate and
Mechanic and from Paul and the boys.
Special thanks to Mike, Paula (Church) and family for their fabulous hospitality
and treating me so well when I stay. Going practicing with Stephen Sword and
Carl Nunn at Marshfield has been priceless.
Also thanks to all my sponsors, too numerous to mention, but you’ll find
them in print on the Team Green page (back of the TMX). Thanks to Paul (Malin)
and Ricki (Priest) for their health and training events, my fitness levels
are at an all time high. Also a special thanks to my family and girlfriend
Dionne for all their help and support over the years.
I went with Steve and the Church team to the
G.P. at Valkensward, it was something else, the pace was unreal,
this is where I hope my career will take me and I will give 110%
to get there.
As the web site is launched I will be in Florida,
I will fly out to Atlanta on the 8th November and will travel down
to Tallerhassie and join the “Millsapp family” at their
ranch for 2 weeks fitness and bike training. From there I will
go on to Gainesville and will compete in the Mini-Olympics.
Moto-X is on a so much bigger scale in America so I’m really looking
forward to spending 3 weeks on my bike without the hassles of everyday life
getting in the way.
I am in training for the 2004 season already
and can’t wait for it to come around, I have signed to ride
for Kawasaki again next season and will ride a 250f at the British
Championships, the KWS Masters series and possible the U21 series.
I am also hoping to compete in the European Championships; this
is the next stage for me in my career.
I will fly out to Spain in the first week in
January with my new team mate for next season, Tom Church and we
will spend 3 weeks training with Harry Everts (Stefan Everts dad).
I’m sure this experience will be priceless.
Well I better be off, I have a plane to catch.
Wish me luck and I will be in touch when I return back in the UK
in December, ‘til then safe and successful riding to you
all!
Jamie
Ps – I hope all the local riders
have a great presentation night, thanks a lot in advance to the “Miller
boys” (Thomas, William and Andrew) for collecting my trophies,
much appreciated lads!
